Gina Stephan

Club Director/Co-Owner

As a Coach: Gina was announced as the head coach at Bridgewater College in 2021, following one season as an assistant with the Eagles.  In her first season as head coach, Gina led the team to a top six finish in the ODAC to qualify for the conference postseason tournament. During her year as an assistant in 2020-21, the Eagles also qualified for the ODAC postseason tournament.
She joined the Eagles staff after a year as the assistant coach at Haverford College in Pennsylvania. The Fords played three top-10 teams to within a goal and received votes in the national polls for several weeks of an eventual 9-8 campaign.
Prior to starting coaching collegiately, Gina was the head varsity field hockey coach at Clarence High School, where she earned the 2018 New York Section VI Coach of the Year award and led her team to two consecutive Section VI finals.

As a Player:

Gina started all 66 games at defense from 2010-13 at The College at Brockport, earning second team All-SUNYAC honors in 2010 and 2012.
She led the Golden Eagles in defensive saves every season, topping the SUNYAC in that category as a sophomore and finishing with 20 for her career.


Education:

Gina graduated from Brockport in 2014 with a degree in psychology. She has also completed 2 Master's Degrees, 1 in psychology from SUNY Brockport and her 2nd in Sports Administration from Canisius College.  Gina is currently completing a Sports Psychology Certification Program from the University of Western States.

Alex Johnson

Business Development Director/Co-Owner

Career:

Alex currently works as a Risk Advisor at USAA, where he has been for the last year and a half.  He has been working in Risk Management for 6 years, with experience at HSBC and Wells Fargo.

Education:

Alex graduated from D'Youville College in 2016, with a Bachelor's Degree in Accounting and a Master's Degree in International Business.  Alex also has his Personal Training Certification and his Group Fitness Certification.

​

As a Player:

Alex played volleyball at D'Youville College from 2012-2015, where he was the starting Libero for his last 3 years, earning second team AMCC honors in 2014 and 2015.
He led the Spartans in digs and digs per set from 2013-2015, finishing 14th in the nation in 2013 and 17th in 2014.  Alex finished with over 900 digs for his career.

Emily Bagby

Coach

As a Coach:

Emily was hired as the assistant coach at Bridgewater College before the start of the 2022 Season.  In her first season as the assistant coach, Emily helped lead the team to a top six finish in the ODAC and to the conference postseason tournament. Since then, Emily has helped lead the team to a top three finish in the ODAC, a 12-6-1 record, and the semi-final game in the conference tournament.  Prior to this position, Emily was a part-time volunteer coach for Bridgewater.

As a Player:

Emily was a four-year member of the Bridgewater College Field Hockey Program and was the team's starting goalkeeper as a senior.  Emily ranks in the top five in program history in both save percentage and goals-against average garnering 20 starts across 32 appearances.

​

Education:

Emily graduated from Bridgewater College in 2020 with her undergraduate degree in family and consumer sciences with concentrations in family life education and child development. She then went on to graduate from Randolph College in 2024 with her masters in coaching and sports leadership. Emily is also a USA Field Hockey Level 1 certified coach.

Char Hope

Coach

As a Coach:

​Char was the head field hockey coach at 2 ODAC schools, EMU and Ferrum. In her first season at the helm of the Panthers, Ferrum won four games, their most since the 2017 season. The Panthers also had a player named to the All-ODAC team at season's end.  Before Ferrum, Char was an assistant coach at Haverford College (2021-22), a member of the Centennial Conference, as well as Widener University (2020-2021), part of the Mid-Atlantic Conference. During her time at Haverford, the Fords advanced to the Centennial Conference playoffs, winning a first round game. In 2021, while at Haverford, she was named a Tara Vanderveer Grant Recipient through the Women in Sports Foundation.​

​

As a Player:

​Char was a two-year starting goalkeeper for Kutztown University. In her two seasons as a starter, she amassed 21 wins while racking up 184 saves. In 2017, she had a 0.98 GAA on her way to being named All-PSAC First-Team and NFHCA All-American Second Team. Her career GAA of 1.45 puts her at fourth all-time in Kutztown history.

Education:

 Char earned her Bachelor of Science degree in Criminal Justice from Kutztown in 2018, and her Master of Science degree in Management from Wilmington University (Del.) in 2021.  Char holds USA Field Hockey Level I and Level II Coaching Certifications.
